Why Asheville, North Carolina?

Asheville (AVL) is a thriving hub for travelers as well as established and new residents. Those misty Blue Ridge Mountains promise sprawling vistas, endless hiking, and cascading waterfalls. Find award-winning restaurants and all of the vegan and gluten-free food you could ever want. The city fills your soul with culture and music, and your tummy with craft beer. Experience the magic of AVL that I feel every day…except when I-26 shuts down

So, what made my husband, Tom, and I move here? Well, it started with ✨ this whirlwind, 2-day Asheville itinerary ✨ filled with literary travel, waterfalls, history, beer, and more. Keep reading, and see how to keep up with Uncorked Asheville online.

Moving To Asheville

We visited Asheville on a whim. Native New Englanders, our Florida home began to suffocate us. Where were the seasons and hills? Where was the good wine? “Muscadine” is a swear word in our household. We needed a change. Fall runs in our blood; OK, maybe fall beer, too.

During one fateful weekend visit, we knew the boozy spirits designed this blue-hued city for us. Was it the champagne bookstore? The Hunger Games waterfalls? A crocheted flying pig on a lamppost?

Within months, we moved into our AVL home. Our days are filled with hiking, pesky black bears, purple sunsets, and delicious food. We have never looked back.

Watch the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains and worship tacos in a former gas station. AVL is great for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diners.
