Asheville residents since 2019, the North Carolina mountains have transformed Tom and I into hardcore foodies, even with ulcerative colitis and Celiac’s. We eat out multiple times a week, heading to Weaverville for quieter nights out, lunch at our favorite wine bar, and coffee with pastries.

If you are planning a visit here, a great Weaverville itinerary includes walking Lake Louise, shopping at Downtown Weaverville’s art galleries, grabbing beer at Eluvium or Leveller, and dining at one of these great restaurants.

8 Best Restaurants In Weaverville: Why Visit & What To Order

For the restaurants in Downtown Weaverville, we suggest parking in the free lot at the Main Street Nature Park, along the streets, or behind establishments like Twisted Laurel. Most restaurants outside of the downtown area have parking lots.

1. Stoney Knob Cafe – Quirky Mediterranean

Where can you dine with Elvis watching over you? On your way into Weaverville from North Asheville, you’ll pass Stoney Knob Cafe. The vibrant interior of the restaurant bears no resemblance to its simple diner façade. We enjoy the booths with bubble glass lighting, flower lanterns that change colors at the bar, and creative frescoes on the ceiling.

Serving up mouth-watering Greek and European cuisine, Stoney Knob Cafe has Sunday brunch, lunch, and “fine dining” dinner; it’s all still very casual. Select from gyros, salads, Korean tacos, fish and meat dishes, burgers, and sandwiches. For us, Stoney Knob grills the best octopus in the United States, besides Miami, and the fresh tuna steaks are a must, if on the menu. You cannot go wrong with a burger or tacos paired with their sangria.

Other perks: Stoney Knob marks gluten-free items and has excellent service. Make advanced reservations, if you can, as they’ve been consistently voted one of the best restaurants in Weaverville (& the AVL area). It’s not hard to see why. Park in the lot out front.

2. Glass Onion – Global Italian For Special Occasions

Glass Onion is the best Weaverville restaurant for fine dining, romantic date night, and special occasions. While you can get dressed up, you don’t have to. Or, opt to sit at the bar. Make advanced reservations, but also know that you may get in without them during non-peak hours (we do!).

While slightly pricier, enjoy delicious beet and salad appetizers and generously portioned meat and seafood entrées. The global Italian menu features Sunburst trout, seared scallops (my go-to), salmon, and pasta favorites like gnocchi, ravioli, and rigatoni bolognese. My tip: Always order off the specials menu; it’s fresh and unforgettable.

I love Glass Onion’s wine list, and of course, they have decadent desserts. The service is excellent here, and as of mid-2025, they are under new ownership (no mind-blowing changes for regulars), I promise.

3. Maggie B’s – Casual Wine Bar, Shop, and Cafe For Sandwiches

Maggie B’s is a hidden gem for a casual and simple lunch in Weaverville with friends, especially if you love wine. First and foremost, they are a wine and specialty shop, boasting a terrific selection of wines from around the globe. They host tasting events and feature glasses on their regular menu.

But what we most love about Maggie B’s is their soup, salad, and sandwich menu (GF bread for Tom, too) paired with fruit, chips, and potato salad sides. Budget-friendly, healthy, fast, and no-frills but delicious, sit in the wine room with grape lights or outside on the front or back patios, people-watching.

4. Allgood Coffee – Coffee, Tea, & Pastries

Right next to Maggie B’s, Allgood Coffee is one of my all-time favorite Asheville-area coffee shops. Unlike the other Weaverville restaurants on this list, they don’t have a kitchen or serve meals, but you can grab a delicious coffee beverage with a pastry. That’s all I need.

For our gluten-free and vegan baked good lovers, find Back Porch Baking Company and West Village Market goodies. Two words: cardamom bun.

The ambiance can’t be beat, too: historic architecture, local art on the walls available for purchase, all year-round Christmas lights, and friendly locals. Be sure to buy some local beans from Dynamine (Black Mountain-based), and peruse their shelves for local pottery, hand towels, and more. You have to love the owners and staff, too. Wonderful people.

5. Twisted Laurel – Family-Friendly, American Comfort Food

Whether flower picking at The Never Ending Flower Farm (our favorite) or running errands north of the city, Twisted Laurel is one of the best restaurants in Weaverville for local beer, craft cocktails, and casual fare. They also have a Downtown Asheville location. For many locals, they are the #1 here.

Twisted Laurel’s menu boasts a blend of Mediterranean and American cuisine at budget-friendly prices with popular outdoor seating. Great for the entire family, start with menu items like calamari, wings, garlic knots, and nachos. I like their handheld options, including chicken salad sandwiches, Reubens, and burgers. Or, opt for a more indulgent steak, fish, or pasta entrée. Twisted Laurel also has pizzas and Sunday brunch.

6. Yellow Mug Coffee Lounge – All-Day Breakfast & Casual, Hipster Lunch

Sitting on the edge of Downtown Weaverville, Yellow Mug Coffee Lounge promises all-day breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, and an early dinner (they close at 6 PM). This is truly a jumping local cafe and coffee shop with all of the Western North Carolina living vibes. It’s lesser-known than Well-Bred by visitors, which is also another Weaverville restaurant option, but I prefer Yellow Mug.

With affordable prices, think breakfast burritos and avocado toast. Or, go for the chicken salad sandwiches and the soup of the day. Select from vegan rancheros, French toast, ham and green bean hash, and breakfast sandwiches for weekend brunch. The coffee and pastries are yum.

7. Eluvium Brewing Company – Local Brewery With Food (Kitchen & Food Trucks)

If you’re craving casual places to eat in Weaverville with local brews and pub grub, Eluvium Brewing has an on-site kitchen plus Tuesday food trucks. Kid and dog-friendly, find no-frills bar snacks and handhelds, including pretzels, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, Cuban melts, and more.

For beer, enjoy Helles, Lagers, Sours, Wheats, IPAs, and Brown Ales plus local guest ciders, seltzers, and ginger beers, even posting when they clean their taps.

8. Soba Sushi And Noodles – Fight That Sushi Craving

You know how much Tom and I love sushi, so it’s no surprise we had to talk about Weaverville’s Soba Sushi and Noodles. Soba Sushi has sushi rolls, sashimi, teriyaki, and noodle dishes, including Pad Thai, Lo Mein, and Teriyaki. Did someone say ramen? Yes; please!

I also highly recommend ordering Soba’s tea. The ginger and honey tea is sweet and chock-full of shredded ginger. Your tummy will thank you. Soba has its own parking lot.
